UP Man Gets 20 Years' Jail for Rape and Abduction of a Minor Girl
According to police, the convict became acquainted with the minor and gained her confidence by professing love.
Hyderabad:Judge R.M. Subhavali of the Special Court for Pocso Act cases in Medak sentenced an Uttar Pradesh native to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 for raping and abducting a 15-year-old girl in Manoharabad in the year 2023.
According to police, the convict became acquainted with the minor and gained her confidence by professing love. Police said he later sexually assaulted the minor and took her to other states without the consent of her parents.
Following a complaint by the girl’s parents that she had gone missing, Manoharabad police registered a case and launched a search. The victim was traced and rescued safely after a swift investigation. Subsequently, police booked a Pocso Act against the accused in August 2023.
The investigation was conducted by then Toopran DSP Yadagiri Reddy, who filed the chargesheet in the special court. Medak superintendent of police D.V. Srinivas Rao said the conviction reflected the district police's commitment to ensuring stringent punishment in crimes against children through scientific investigation and strong evidence.
