Additional Charge or Additional Burden? Telangana Fills Vacant DIG Posts

Hyderabad: The state government on Monday entrusted senior IPS officers with additional charge while transferring and posting 23 non-cadre SPs and additional SPs. The move placed officers such as D. Joel Davis, M. Swetha, S.M. Vijay Kumar and Sunpreet Singh in dual roles.

D. Joel Davis, Hyderabad joint commissioner of police, traffic, was given additional charge of DIG, Zone-V (Yadadri).

M. Swetha was appointed Warangal’s first woman commissioner of police and given additional charge of DIG, Zone-IV (Bhadradri).

Swetha earlier served as the first woman SP of Siddipet district and recently coordinated teams deployed towards the Nepal border and close communication with the teams during the investigation into the murder of IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray’s wife in Jubilee Hills.

Warangal police commissioner Sunpreet Singh was transferred as joint commissioner, traffic, Cyberabad, with additional charge of DIG, Zone-III (Rajanna Sircilla). Ramagundam police commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha will hold additional charge as DIG, Zone-I (Kaleshwaram).

The others are:

R. Bhaskaran: Zone-II (Basara); S.M. Vijay Kumar: Additional charge as Hyderabad north zone joint commissioner (law and order); Ch. Sindhu Sarma as SP, CI Cell, Intelligence, with additional charge of SP, SIB’ Y. Sai Sekhar as SP, Railway Police; Chennuri Rupesh and Ch. Praveen Kumar as SPs in CID; R. Venkateshwarlu as DCP, CAR Headquarters, and Rajesh Meena as additional SP (Administration), Vikarabad.

In a separate order, the government transferred and posted 23 non-cadre SPs and additional SPs. Among the prominent postings, Raghavender Reddy was posted as DCP, Golconda. Having served in Greyhounds, Mulugu and the Telangana Police Academy, he played an active role in anti-Maoist operations and rehabilitation efforts that contributed to the decline of left-wing Extremism in the state. He is also Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brother’s son-in-law.
