Hyderabad:The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT‑H) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday to expand collaboration in semiconductor research, deep‑tech innovation and interdisciplinary academic programmes.

The agreement provides reciprocal access to laboratories, high‑performance computing facilities and library resources, with emphasis on semiconductor science, VLSI and embedded systems.

The partnership also enables co‑teaching, interdisciplinary research and joint supervision of postgraduate and PhD scholars under University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) regulations.

Officials said the collaboration is expected to strengthen joint research publications, intellectual property generation and competitive research grants, while helping develop industry‑ready manpower in strategically important sectors.

The MoU outlines plans for future collaborative and joint degree programmes in specialised fields such as VLSI and semiconductor technologies, areas gaining national attention amid India’s push to expand domestic chip design and manufacturing.

The agreement was signed in the presence of UoH vice‑chancellor in‑charge J. Anuradha and IIIT‑H director Sandeep K. Shukla, along with senior academic and administrative officials.

Faculty coordinators from UoH’s Centre for Advanced Studies in Electronics Science and Technology (CASEST) and IIIT‑H’s Centre for VLSI and Embedded Systems Technology (CVEST) will oversee implementation of the collaboration.
