Hyderabad:A dump yard will come up on each of the four sides of the city, in addition to one at Jawaharnagar where 10,000 metric tonnes of waste is being dumped every day. The decision was taken after an all-party delegation visited the Jawaharnagar dumpyard on Friday. Once the new dump yards are established, the volume of waste that is being dumped at Jawaharnagar will be reduced considerably.

Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajendar, Medchal MLA, Chamakura Malla Reddy, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy, members of Re Sustainability Ltd (RE), formerly Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd, visited the Jawaharnagar dumpyard on Friday, gathered information regarding the waste management protocols and pollution control measures.

The delegation expressed severe displeasure over the improper functioning of the sewage treatment plant established to mitigate water pollution in Jawaharnagar. They also expressed their indignation towards RE citing hardships being faced by the local residents.

They suggested that utilising CSR funds for the development of the amenities would yield better results and mentioned that presently, only a small portion of such funds are being spent. Following the fund crunch, the local populace is being deprived of access to safe drinking water and adequate medical facilities.

It was decided that the lawmakers, government officials and representatives from RE would hold another meeting to prepare a comprehensive report and submit it to Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy.
