Two Convicted in Pocso Case

HYDERABAD: Fast Track Special Court for Pocso Act cases in Rangareddy district at LB Nagar convicted two men on Tuesday for kidnapping and sexually assaulting two minor cousin sisters after luring them with promises of love and marriage.
Primary accused Sampangi Chendra Shekar, an autorickshaw driver residing in Balapur, was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000. Co‑accused Bollipaka Madhu, a student, received a five‑year prison sentence and a fine of ₹7,000. The court also sanctioned victim compensation of ₹50,000 for one victim and ₹1 lakh for the other.
The case was registered at Balapur police station under the IPC, the Pocso Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The two accused lured the victims, aged 16 and 17 at the time of the incident, on the pretext of love and marriage and assaulted them sexually. Based on the complaint and chargesheet, Fast Track Special Court Judge M.K. Padmavathi awarded conviction.
The prosecution team led by additional public prosecutors P. Satyanarayana and Ganga Reddy, along with investigation officers ACP K. Purushottam Reddy and Inspector B. Bhasker, successfully secured the conviction with the support of court duty officer K. Srinivas Reddy and summons constable K. Ramdas.
Habitual thief held, scooters recovered
HYDERABAD: Dabeerpura police arrested a 55‑year‑old habitual two‑wheeler thief and suspect sheeter, recovering two stolen Honda Activa scooters and uncovering his involvement in multiple property offences across Hyderabad and Nalgonda districts.
The accused, Dasari Shyam alias Narsing, a hotel worker and suspect sheeter of the Domalguda police, was apprehended on Tuesday in connection with the theft of a two-wheeler parked outside a house in New Malakpet. During interrogation, he confessed to the offence, leading to the recovery of the stolen scooter. Police also recovered another stolen vehicle linked to a theft case registered at Narayanguda police station.
Police said the accused was involved in ten previous cases registered at Narayanguda, Chikkadpally, Begumpet, Afzalgunj, Gudipalli (Nalgonda district) and Hussaini Alam police stations. His criminal record includes multiple vehicle theft cases, while he was also convicted in a petty case under the City Police Act and sentenced to seven days’ simple imprisonment.
