Tussle Among OUJAC Leaders At Martyrs’ Memorial

HYDERABAD: A tussle broke out among different groups of OU joint action committee (JAC) leaders after the overwhelming response to a call by the committee to identify and honour Telangana Udyama Karulu — those who took part in the statehood agitation.
High drama was witnessed at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial opposite the Secretariat when student leaders were invited to present their views. Heated arguments and commotion disrupted the committee’s review session, with aggressive face-offs over identifying genuine Telangana movement activists and allocating welfare and representation for martyrs’ families. Proceedings were suspended.
Committee members said the situation was brought under control before it escalated. “We were expecting 150, but some 300 to 350 came, while about 50 spoke. Since everyone wanted to present their views the situation turned chaotic. But we managed to bring it under control,” a member told said.
