Tributes Paid To Chakali Ilamma
Leaders of various political parties, representatives of Rajaka associations and local residents participated in large numbers and paid floral tributes to her portrait.
WARANGAL: Tributes were paid to Chakali Ilamma, the valiant woman who fought for land, livelihood and liberation from bonded labour and opposed the feudal rule of landlords, at Siddhartha Nagar in Kazipet. A programme was organised at Chakali Ilamma Junction under the leadership of former corporator Narlagiri Ramalingam to mark her 41st death anniversary.

Speaking on the occasion, Narlagiri Ramalingam said Ilamma’s struggle against the exploitation of landlords and bonded labour during the Nizam’s rule was an inspiring chapter in Telangana’s history. He said she courageously fought for the rights of the poor, labourers and farmers and stood up to feudal forces.
He said Ilamma’s determination to fight for her land without succumbing to pressure from the ruling classes inspired the Telangana armed peasant struggle.
Ramalingam urged the present generation to draw inspiration from Ilamma’s sacrifice, self-respect and fighting spirit. He announced that a statue of Chakali Ilamma would be unveiled in Siddhartha Nagar on October 18, coinciding with Saddula Bathukamma.
Barla Yakub, Pasunuri Manohar, Gunti Kumar, Chilukapati Shiva, Kotha Ravi, Ponagoti Venkat Rao, Thakkallapalli Nikhil Rao, Modem Sadanandam, Kollapelli Sammaiah, Kuduri Raju, Kasaboyini Tirupathi, Doddipati Sammaiah, Vainala Bikshapathi, Lakavath Yakub, Paithari Sadanandam and others participated in the programme.
