Hyderabad:Out-patient registrations at the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims) Sanathnagar are being accepted daily from 8 am to noon, with doctors attending to registered patients until 2 pm. In-patient (IP) and emergency services have not yet commenced due to ongoing works at the facility.

Patients from neighbouring localities said the opening of the hospital had made access to medical care more convenient. A patient said, “Earlier, I used to go to the Nims or Osmania Hospital. With the opening of Tims, it is convenient for us to come here and get ourselves checked.”

A patient from Bharatnagar said the doctors were providing good services and that the hospital was easily accessible. However, some patients were unaware of the OP registration timings. A patient who came from Kukatpally with friends had to return after learning that tokens were being issued only until noon.

In-patient services are likely to take another two weeks to commence, according to a highly-placed source. While the infrastructure and other arrangements are reportedly in place, the surgery theatres were undergoing sanitation and sterilisation procedures before they could be put to use.

The source said the theatres would have to record three consecutive negative reports, confirming that there were no germs, before surgeries and other inpatient procedures could begin.

The sanitation process was taken up after the inaugural of the facility, in view of the large gathering and high footfall during the event. Though the operation theatres were expected to complete sterilisation by Friday, the process is likely to take some more time as three consecutive reports have to be negative.
