Time Limit Extended For Fancy Numbers
Officials said the extension was made for the convenience of vehicle owners
HYDERABAD: The Telangana transport department has extended the time limit for reserving fancy or special registration numbers for new vehicles to two months from the date of temporary registration (TR).
Under the VAHAN system, a temporary registration issued for a newly purchased vehicle is valid for 30 days. Officials said the extension was made for the convenience of vehicle owners.
Vehicle owners who opted for fancy or special numbers at the time of purchase but have not yet reserved one are advised to do so at the earliest. If no reservation is made within two months of the TR date, the VAHAN system will automatically allot a routine or random number.
Officials said the system will generate a registration number immediately after the expiry of the two‑month period if no reservation is made.
