An Ox was killed in an attack by the tiger.

An ox was attacked and killed by a tiger in Jadalpet village of Chityal mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Saturday, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) M. Naveen Reddy said on Sunday.

Confirming the incident, the DFO told Deccan Chronicle that forest officials tracked the tiger’s pugmarks for nearly one kilometre before they disappeared into the nearby forest, indicating that the animal may have returned to its natural habitat.
“This is the first time a tiger has been sighted in Jadalpet village,” he said, adding that the kill was confirmed to be caused by a tiger. Forest officials believe the animal moved away due to increased human presence.
As a precautionary measure, alerts have been issued in nearby mandals including Tekumatla, Chityal and villagers have been advised to remain cautious.
The DFO noted that similar incidents were reported last year in Kataram and Koyyuru, which border the Maneru forest region. He said the tiger is likely a male and its movement coincides with the mating season, which typically runs from December to April.
“Every year, we observe increased tiger movement between November and March. After the mating season, they usually return to their own territory,” he explained.

Police have issued an alert urging cattle and sheep rearers to remain vigilant in the respective areas.
