TGRERA Extends Registration Validity and Project Deadlines by Four Months Over West Asia Crisis
Centre's Force Majeure advisory over West Asia situation prompts relief for developers
Hyderabad: The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TG-RERA) granted a four-month extension to the registration validity and completion timelines of eligible real estate projects, after the Centre advised state regulators to treat the ongoing West Asia situation as a "war" under the Force Majeure provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
In an order issued on Friday, TGRERA said the extension would apply to all registered real estate projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion dates fall on or after February 28, 2026.
The authority said the decision was taken following an advisory issued by the Union housing and urban affairs ministry. The Centre asked real estate regulatory authorities across the country to provide relief to projects affected by disruptions linked to the continuing situation in West Asia.
TGRERA said the extension has been granted under Section 6 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, along with Rule 6 of the Telangana Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017.
The order clarified that projects with completion deadlines falling between February 28, 2026, and July 31, 2026, will now have their completion timelines extended until November 30, 2026.
The authority also announced that developers will not be required to submit separate applications or pay any additional fee to receive this benefit.
