Telangana: Third-Shift Buses Draw Huge Response In Hyderabad
The corporation introduced the special services on Sept. 1 across six major routes in the Greater Hyderabad zone: Reports
HYDERABAD: The recently launched night service buses branded as ‘Third Shift’ in Greater Hyderabad have drawn a strong response, with 9,286 passengers using them in the first seven days. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is now planning to extend operations to a 24x7 service, with more night routes to be added soon.
The corporation introduced the special services on Sept. 1 across six major routes in the Greater Hyderabad zone, targeting the IT corridor and high-traffic areas after a departmental study. Passenger requests, late-night traffic, and the needs of employees, students and other commuters were factored into the decision.
Officials said there have been further requests to expand the service. Passenger demand, traffic volume and route feasibility will be assessed before adding more corridors. The government’s stated goal is to strengthen public transport and gradually build a round-the-clock system in Hyderabad.
