Telangana Police To Discontinue Arogya Bhadratha Cashless Treatment Scheme From July 1
State shifts employees and pensioners to the new EHCT health scheme
Hyderabad: The police department has decided to discontinue the cashless treatment facility under the Arogya Bhadratha Scheme in all empanelled hospitals with effect from July 1, according to a circular issued by the Director-General of Police (DGP) and chairman of the Arogya Bhadratha Scheme.
A statement said the decision followed the state government's implementation of the Employees Health Care Trust (EHCT), a health insurance scheme for government employees and pensioners. Under this, the government has ordered recovery of a 1.5 per cent subscription from the basic pay of employees and pensions. Consequently, the monthly subscription to the Arogya Bhadratha Scheme has been discontinued from the June 2026 salary payable on July 1.
The statement said the scheme was receiving nearly 3,000 medical bills every month, and no further reimbursements were expected from the government under the existing arrangement. In view of this, the cashless treatment facility under the scheme has been withdrawn from all empanelled hospitals from July 1.
However, beneficiaries who are admitted to empanelled hospitals on or before June 30 would be allowed to continue treatment under the scheme until they are discharged from the hospital. The statement directs all empanelled hospitals and unit officers to strictly comply with the instructions. It specifies that no fresh admissions under the Arogya Bhadratha Scheme will be permitted on or after July 1, 2026.
