Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught red handed Rajanna Sircilla Irrigation division Executive Engineer Arram Reddy Amarender Reddy at his residence in Karimnagar for accepting a bribe of Rs.60,000 from a complainant.

The bribe was accepted from the complainant for showing an official favour for sanctioning the bill Rs.50 lakh related to the contract work related to construction of a check dam between Avunuru and Agraram villages in Venkatapur mandal of Rajanna Siricilla district. The construction work was executed by the complainant a year ago.

On noticing the arrival of ACB officials, Reddy wrapped the bribe money in his son's T-shirt without touching it and threw it outside the compound wall of house. The tainted bribe amount of Rs.60,000 was recovered from the open place behind the residential house of Reddy. The portion of the T-shirt which came into contact with the tainted bribe amount was yielded positive in the chemical test.

The ACB officials said Reddy performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Reddy already took Rs.4 lakh for sanctioning the bill that the complainant had submitted earlier and again demanded Rs.75,000 as bribe for sanctioning the remaining bill pertaining to contract work.

The officials said Reddy was produced before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar. The details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons.
