Telangana: CPI Will Work With Congress To Safeguard Nation, Says TG Party Secretary

Speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed CPI office – A.B. Bardhan Bhavan – at Markandeya Nagar in Warangal city, along with Wardhannapet MLA K.R. Nagaraju and CPI state assistant secretary Takkallapalli Srinivasa Rao, Sambasiva Rao asserted that the country must be saved from communal forces and what he termed a corporate-friendly government at the centre.

The Kothagudem MLA said the growing protests by students and youth against the alleged failures of the union government, particularly over the NEET paper leak, reflected widespread public dissatisfaction. He asserted that the Congress and Left parties would continue their joint struggle against the Narendra Modi-led government.

Turning to state issues, the CPI state secretary urged the Telangana government to fulfil the promises made during the assembly elections and prioritise welfare of the poor. He demanded that land ownership rights be granted to poor families residing on government land.

In this regard, he criticised the demolition of huts belonging to economically weaker sections while alleging that large-scale encroachers of government land are being left untouched.

Sambasiva Rao called upon the government to halt demolitions of huts immediately and regularise the occupied land by issuing house-site pattas to eligible beneficiaries.

Wardhannapet MLA K.R. Nagaraju, a retired IPS officer, assured the gathering that he would make every effort to stop the demolition of poor people's houses and facilitate the allotment of house-site pattas and Indiramma houses to eligible families residing on government land.

Nagaraju said democracy would remain strong only when Communist parties remained strong. He affirmed that the Congress and CPI would continue to work together for the resolution of people's issues and the welfare of the weaker sections.
