Nalgonda: Telangana State Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy on Friday said public participation was essential for effective implementation of government schemes.
Addressing a district-level “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” programme at Nalgonda, he said the state government had initiated several welfare measures for all sections. Schemes such as ‘Rythu Bhima’, ‘Rythu Bharosa’, crop loan waiver and a Rs 500 bonus per quintal for fine rice paddy had improved farmers’ financial condition.
He urged farmers to adopt crop diversification and shift from traditional crops to commercially viable ones.
Reddy underlined the need to address issues in education, irrigation and healthcare through sustained efforts.
He said the ‘Young India Integrated Residential Schools’ and ‘Model Schools’ taken up by the state government would be “game changers” in the education sector. He added that free uniforms, mid-day meals and breakfast schemes would benefit students from weaker sections.
Expressing concern over declining enrolment in government schools, he called for strengthening them to improve admissions.
Burri Chaitanya said the Congress government would soon launch a ‘Family Life Insurance Scheme’ in the state.
Officials, including MLC Nellikanti Satyam, district collector B. Chandrasekhar, superintendent of police Sharath Chandra, additional collector (Revenue) J. Srinivas and additional collector (local bodies) Y. Ashok Reddy attended the programme.
