HYDERABAD: The state government approved direct recruitment to 429 assistant professor posts across seven state universities, with Osmania University accounting for the largest share of vacancies. The government has directed the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to issue recruitment notifications.
Osmania University will recruit 252 assistant professors, followed by Kakatiya University and Satavahana University with 49 posts each. Palamuru University has been allocated 45 posts, while Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University and Suravaram Pratap Reddy Telugu University will recruit 16 assistant professors each. Telangana University has been allocated two posts. Osmania University accounts for nearly 59 per cent of the approved vacancies.
The recruitment will be carried out in the first phase through direct appointments. The respective universities are expected to issue notifications, with the government directing officials to initiate the process without delay. The approval comes amid concerns over faculty shortages in state universities.
