Hyderabad: The state government on Friday accorded in-principle approval for construction of 1 lakh affordable ownership flats under LIG and MIG categories, with a 70:30 ratio, and launched a pilot project for 12,000 flats in the Core Urban Regional Economy (CURE) area, comprising the three municipal corporations of Greater Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad.
The order, issued by the transport, roads and buildings (housing) department, envisages 70,000 LIG and 30,000 MIG units in municipal corporations and CURE areas based on demand survey.
Under the scheme, the government will subsidise ₹5 lakh for each LIG unit. The LIG flats will be allotted without land cost, which will be treated as equity of the government, board or Telangana Housing Board and will not be charged to beneficiaries. Registration of flats along with undivided share of land will be done in the name of eligible beneficiaries as per government norms.
District collectors in the CURE areas have been directed to identify and provide government land after verifying title, encumbrances, land use, litigation status, road access and infrastructure feasibility.
The vice-chairman and housing commissioner of the Telangana Housing Board has been authorised to issue demand survey notifications and other administrative instructions, scheme notifications and operational guidelines for implementation.
The authority has also been permitted to adopt the special tendering and procurement procedures and relaxations approved earlier for the 2BHK housing scheme.
