Hyderabad: The sleuths of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a GHMC official and two Forest department officials in connection with separate bribe cases.

Ch. Prabhavathi, a Town Planning Supervisor at GHMC’s Santosh Nagar Circle 25 in Charminar Zone, was caught red handed by the ACB officials when she demanded and accepted the bribe of Rs.20,000 from the complainant for doing an official favour.

The bribe was demanded for processing the building permission file and handing over the building permit order and work commencement letter to the complainant. The bribe amount was recovered from the possession of Prabhavathi

Meanwhile, the ACB booked a case of criminal misconduct against Ram Babu, a Forest Section Officer and Murali Krishna, Forest Beat Officer posted at the Lingala Forest Office in Nagarkurnool district.

On July 23, the duo intercepted the complainant and others while they were transporting wood collected from the Nallamala forest and threatened to register forest case and seize the bullock carts if the bribe was not paid.

Initially, they demanded Rs.1.20 lakh and later, they reduced the amount to Rs.50,000. Accordingly, as the complainant had no other option, he agreed to pay the demanded amount and paid Rs.28,000 online and the remaining Rs.22,000 in cash.

Thereafter, again they demanded an additional Rs.6,000 for issuing an official receipt. Thereby, the AOs acted improperly and dishonestly in the exercise of their official duties to obtain undue advantage for themselves.

The ACB officials produced the three arrested persons in the special court for ACB cases in Nampally.
