Tanmay, Pratyush, Wafi Hit Centuries in ‘A’ Division League

Hyderabad:Day One of the fifth round of the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s ‘A’ Division League was dominated by prolific batting, with two centuries headlining the action and Deccan Chronicle producing the highest total of the round on Thursday.

Tanmay Agarwal’s blistering 153 and M. Pratyush Kumar’s polished 125 powered Deccan Chronicle beyond the 500-run mark, placing Jai Hanuman under enormous pressure. UBI also enjoyed a commanding day thanks to Wafi Kachchhi’s century (105) before reducing EMCC to 2/2 at stumps.

Several bowlers ensured their teams stayed in contention despite batting-friendly conditions. Hyderabad Bottling completed the only outright result of the day with an emphatic chase inside 25 overs after disciplined bowling from Y. Harshith Sai and D. Venkat Rao Shinde. Evergreen, Charminar and Hyderabad Bottling all seized early control with strong starts in their respective chases, while Sporting XI posted a competitive first-innings total led by A. Takshith Rao.

The ‘B’ Division witnessed a remarkable batting exhibition with seven centuries, headlined by S. M. Tanuj’s unbeaten 173 — the highest individual score of the round. Rohit XI, Income Tax, Chetan Anand CA, Sportive, Mahbubnagar, Telangana and Future Stars all produced century-makers, while several teams crossed or approached the 350-run mark, highlighting batting-friendly conditions.

Bowlers still produced notable performances, particularly Nischal Reddy’s five-wicket haul (5/78) for Green Turf and Aditya N. K’s five-for (5/50) for Hyderabad Wanderers.

Income Tax, Rohit XI, Mahbubnagar and Telangana ended the day firmly in command after reducing their opponents to early trouble, while Crown secured the only outright victory in the division with a measured chase.
