Suryapet Nurse Stranded In Saudi After Accident, Family Seeks CM Revanth's Help
Gugulot Sunitha, a native of Urthi Kammapadu in Chivvemla mandal of Suryapet district, travelled to Saudi Arabia in September of 2024 after completing her BSc Nursing.
Hyderabad: A Suryapet-based woman, who went to Saudi Arabia to work as a nurse, met with an accident that resulted in permanent disability, and has been banned from travelling by the Saudi authorities. Her mother wrote a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy through the CM Pravasi Prajavani portal and requested his help to help bring her daughter back home.
Gugulot Sunitha, a native of Urthi Kammapadu in Chivvemla mandal of Suryapet district, travelled to Saudi Arabia in September of 2024 after completing her BSc Nursing. She joined King Abdullah Hospital in the Aseer Cluster as an ICU Nurse Specialist.
On April 23, 2025, she met with a major accident and suffered serious injuries. She underwent several surgeries for injuries to her spine, head and both hands, with metal plates implanted in her body. A Saudi medical board later declared her 87 per cent permanently disabled and medically unfit to continue working, leading to her getting terminated from her job.
Her family said Sunitha has been bedridden ever since and depended entirely on others for her daily needs. They added that her salary stopped in November 2025, leaving her without any source of income.
In the letter to Revanth Reddy, Sunitha’s mother Guguloth Parengi wrote: “Prior to the accident, my daughter had obtained a bank loan of SAR 1,48,000 (more than `37 lakh) from Saudi Al Rajhi Bank. Despite submitting all her medical records to the bank, the loan account has not been settled, resulting in the imposition of a travel ban.”
Seeking help, Parengi approached the the Pravasi Prajavani with an emotional appeal to CM Revanth Reddy to bring her daughter home.
The petition was forwarded to the Chief Minister by Dr G. Chinna Reddy, vice chairman of the Planning Board and In-charge of CM Prajavani.
The family has requested the state government, in coordination with the Centre, to arrange Sunitha's medical repatriation, provide financial and legal assistance, resolve the loan dispute, help remove the travel ban and ensure she receives advanced treatment and rehabilitation in India.
