Strong Winds to Lash Telangana; IMD Issues Alert
50–60 kmph gusts likely in several districts over next two days; light to moderate rains expected across state for a week
Hyderabad: Strong surface winds with speeds of 50–60 kmph are likely to hit several districts of Telangana over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned, naming Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam among the affected areas.
The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers across Telangana over the next seven days, with gusty winds expected in several districts.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, rainfall activity will remain intermittent across the state between July 6 and July 13. On Day 1 (July 6–7), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places, while isolated rainfall is expected on most subsequent days.
In the remaining districts, wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected. From July 8 onwards, strong winds of 40–50 kmph are likely at isolated places across all districts.
The IMD has cautioned that the weather conditions may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic congestion, slippery roads, and possible tree falls. Disruptions to electricity and water supply may also occur in some areas.
