WARANGAL: The Medaram Maha Jatara was a massive success, marked by seamless coordination between the district administration and the police force.
SP Sudheer Kekan told the media in Mulugu on Tuesday that the police took lessons from the Jatara of the previous years and implemented a robust ‘Master Plan’ that allowed over one crore devotees to peacefully participate in the pilgrimage. There was no major incident or traffic deadlock, he said.
The safety of the mega-congregation was ensured by the Mulugu district police with intense efforts in Medaram for the past 40 days. From traffic control to crowd management, cops worked tirelessly in day-and-night shifts.
A major highlight was the elimination of the traffic bottlenecks near the Gattamma Temple.
The authorities implemented a new traffic diversion strategy. Separate lanes and parking zones were established for RTC buses and private vehicles. To ease the congestion along the Pasra-Medaram stretch, a special diversion road via Kannepalli village was laid. This allowed private vehicles to reach the parking lots directly by avoiding traditional congestion points.
The implementation of the Medaram Master Plan was fast-tracked through continuous monitoring by the state government. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the site twice to hold public meetings and cabinet sessions, ensuring that temple construction and road works were completed ahead of schedule.
The Mulugu police earned accolades for managing the high-level VVIP security alongside the massive general public congregation without causing disruption to the devotees' spiritual experience.
The district collector and the police officials worked in tandem to oversee the infrastructure projects, including sanitation, lighting and internal roads.
