'A Day With The CP’ Initiative Launched For Students
Commissioner Sajjanar emphasised that the police force is not merely a mechanism to control crime but a service‑oriented system ensuring social security
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad city police on Wednesday launched a unique initiative titled ‘A Day with the CP’ aimed at raising awareness about the policing system among government school students and grooming them into responsible citizens.
The 45‑day programme, inaugurated by police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar at the CCS office in Basheerbagh, will involve students from grades 8 to 10 in government high schools across Hyderabad district. Each day, 20 meritorious students — 10 boys and 10 girls — from a selected school will spend the day experiencing police operations firsthand.
The programme runs from 10 am to 6 pm, during which students visit specialised wings of the department. On the first day, students from Mangalhat Government School joined a video conference with the commissioner regarding security arrangements for the Sri Veera Hanuman Vijay Yathra. They also witnessed grievance redressal sessions, where victims presented complaints and the commissioner explained the legal resolution process step by step.
Books and certificates of appreciation were presented to the participants. Field visits included the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Banjara Hills, the Main police control room, IT Cell, Special Branch, SHE Teams, Cyber Crime Wing and CAR headquarters. Senior officials interacted with the students, explaining the role of technology in crime prevention, measures for women’s safety and the responsibilities of the police in maintaining law and order.
Commissioner Sajjanar emphasised that the police force is not merely a mechanism to control crime but a service‑oriented system ensuring social security. “The primary objective of ‘A Day with the CP’ is to instill respect for the law and a sense of social responsibility in students from a young age,” he said. The programme is designed to educate students on social evils such as cybercrime and drug abuse while building trust in the policing system.
He expressed hope that the exposure would ignite new ideas in the students and guide them towards bright futures. The initiative is being organised under the leadership of Dr Lavanya, DCP, Women Safety Wing, Hyderabad, along with her staff, a press release stated.
