Stephenson Gets SC Nod to Be Heard
A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India took up the application and adjourned the matter for further hearing.
Hyderabad:The Supreme Court on Monday allowed former nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson’s application seeking permission to make additional submissions in the 2015 cash-for-vote case pending before it.
Stephenson, the main complainant in the case, had asked the court to consider his submissions and permit him to advance additional arguments. His counsel said hearing his contentions was crucial to a fair consideration of the matter.
A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India took up the application and adjourned the matter for further hearing. The case relates to the Telangana Legislative Council elections held in June 2015.
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a case over allegations that then Telugu Desam MLA A. Revanth Reddy, now Telangana Chief Minister, had offered Rs 50 lakh as an advance to Stephenson in an attempt to secure his vote for the TD candidate.
