SRSP, Nizamsagar Water Levels Rise After Fresh Inflows

Nizamabad: Water levels in the Sriramsagar Project (SRSP) and Nizamsagar Project continued to rise on Thursday following steady inflows from the Godavari river and its tributaries, bringing relief to farmers in the erstwhile Nizamabad, Adilabad and Karimnagar districts.
The water level in SRSP stood at 1,077.60 ft against its full reservoir level (FRL) of 1,091 ft, almost the same as on the corresponding day last year. The reservoir currently holds 38.799 tmc ft of water against its gross storage capacity of 80.50 tmc ft.
The project was receiving 14,446 cusecs of inflows, while the outflow stood at 974 cusecs. Officials released 300 cusecs into the Kakatiya Main Canal, while 231 cusecs was supplied under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme to meet drinking water needs in Korutla, Jagtial, Adilabad, Nirmal, Armoor, Nizamabad and Kamareddy. Evaporation losses were estimated at 443 cusecs.
Since June 1, SRSP has received 26.642 tmc ft of water from the Godavari and its tributary, the Manjeera. The cumulative outflow during the period stood at 4.836 tmc ft.
Water levels at the Nizamsagar Project were significantly higher than those recorded on the same day last year. The reservoir level stood at 1,398.67 ft against its FRL of 1,405 ft, with storage increasing to 9.984 tmc ft against its total capacity of 17.802 tmc ft. On the corresponding day last year, the reservoir held only 4.571 tmc ft, with a water level of 1,391.20 ft.
The reservoir was receiving 3,565 cusecs of inflows, while the outflow was 170 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the Singitham Reservoir reached its full level of 416.295 metres, while the Kalyani Project recorded a water level of 407 metres. Inflows into the two projects stood at 663 cusecs and 100 cusecs, respectively. Water from the Singitham Reservoir is diverted to the Nizamsagar Main Canal.
