Sridhar Babu Tells Officials to Speed Up Rescue and Relief Operations

Karimnagar:IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu has advised officials to take up rescue and rehabilitation steps on a war footing to help the rain-affected people in Godavarikhani, Peddapalli and Singareni areas.

A few localities in the Godavarikhani coal belt town and Peddapalli were inundated in the floodwater due to continuous rainfall in the last two days.

The minister conducted a review meeting with Peddapalli collector, Singareni CMD, NTPC ED, Telangana GENCO CMD, RFCL officials and Ramagundam police commissioner through video conference from Hyderabad on Thursday.

Sridhar Babu asked the officials to remove hurdles in the drainage system and clear the water stranded in various localities of Ramagundam industrial area. He asked the Singareni and NTPC officials to extend their support to the district administration in the rescue and relief operations.

In situations of floodwater entering residential localities in Veernapalli, officials should take alternative measures to divert flood water in another direction, he said.

The minister asked Ramagundam police to extend support to municipal and revenue officials in the rescue and relief operation in Godavarikhani.

He also asked the Singareni and district medical and health department officials to provide treatment to the affected people by establishing medical camps in Godavarikhani, Ramagundam and Veernapalli.

Sridhar Babu also asked the officials to take advice from the local public representatives while undertaking relief measures.
