Sridhar Babu Inaugurates Cancer Drug Plant in Siddipet
The facility will manufacture medicines and soft gels in compliance with the standards of several global pharmaceutical regulatory bodies
HYDERABAD: IT minister D. Sridhar Babu on Monday said Telangana is transforming into a world‑class life sciences innovation hub by building an ecosystem that combines research, technology, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and skill development. He said the government is preparing the state to meet future healthcare challenges while strengthening its industrial base.
The minister inaugurated India’s first Integrated manufacturing facility for oncology drugs, set up by Ciro Pharma Private Limited with an investment of ₹800 crore at Biotech Park Phase‑III in Karakapatla, Markook mandal, Siddipet district. He said the project reflected Telangana’s growing strength in high‑value pharmaceutical manufacturing and will reinforce the state’s position in the global life sciences sector.
Sridhar Babu said the government was committed to making Telangana a model for industrial development and announced that a special action plan has been prepared to develop the Zaheerabad National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) into a model manufacturing zone. He said the state is also promoting Green Pharma and encouraging sustainable manufacturing practices with future generations in mind.
He added that the Telangana Rising‑2047 vision and the Next Generation Life Sciences Policy are designed to create an integrated ecosystem linking every stage of the value chain, from research to manufacturing. He said the focus is on advanced segments such as biologics, biosimilars, cell and gene therapies, AI and digital health.
The minister alleged that opposition parties are spreading misinformation about flagship initiatives such as Bharat Future City and the HILT Policy out of frustration over Telangana’s industrial progress. He said the government will continue to push ahead with its development agenda despite false propaganda.
The new facility will manufacture oral oncology medicines, sterile injectables, lyophilized powder injections and softgel capsules. It is expected to generate 500 direct jobs initially, with employment likely to double in the coming years.
