SIR Aims To Protect Democracy: Bandi
During his visit, the minister reviewed the SIR process with officials, enquiring about distribution of forms, voter response and other aspects.
Karimnagar: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday said the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was not a political exercise and was aimed at protecting democracy.
Stating that voting was a key instrument in a democracy, he urged people to safeguard their votes. He participated in the SIR process by filling the enumeration form at Chaitanyapuri Sadana School and submitted it to booth level officers, besides uploading details online.
During his visit, the minister reviewed the SIR process with officials, enquiring about distribution of forms, voter response and other aspects.
In a statement, he called upon citizens to take part in the exercise and complete enumeration formalities. He questioned whether youth, who spend time on social media, verify their names in electoral rolls and advised them to check not only their own details but also those of family members.
Alleging that the state government was trying to remove votes of Hindus in coordination with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), he said people should remain alert.
