SCSC Launches Suraksha Kavach For College Women’s Safety And Well-Being

Hyderabad: Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) launched ‘Suraksha Kavach’ a safety and well-being handbook for women college students that is aimed at strengthening their safety, mental wellness, anti-drug awareness and responsible campus culture through student-led clubs in educational institutions.

Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh stressed the importance of emotional well-being, open communication and disciplined lifestyles in addressing stress, loneliness and substance abuse among students. He reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to taking strict action against drug networks and urged students to freely communicate with mentors, parents, teachers and authorities whenever they face challenges.

During an interaction session, Varalaxmi, a biochemistry faculty member, suggested that awareness programmes alone may not be enough and emphasised the need for discussion forums. The commissioner welcomed the idea and encouraged students to speak openly about their concerns.

Responding to a question raised by a NALSAR University student on drug abuse, commissioner Dr Ramesh warned that drugs destroy individuals, families and society, adding that cooperation from students and communities was crucial to tackling the menace.

Actor-director Rahul Ravindran addressed students on the risks of addiction, peer pressure and unhealthy coping mechanisms, encouraging them to pursue meaningful goals and positive lifestyles. Officials from SCSC and educational institutions highlighted the need for anti-ragging measures, mental health support systems and safety mechanisms on campuses.

DCP Women & Child Safety Wing K. Srujana stressed on strict implementation of anti-drug committee guidelines and adherence to POSH and POCSO norms in colleges.
