Parents of Jubilee Hills Murder for Gain Case Suspect Detained; Accused Split at Warangal
Of them, six teams were reportedly sent to different locations connected to Nepal border routes.
Hyderabad:A police team investigating the murder of the wife of a retired IPS officer in Jubilee Hills reportedly have detained the parents of the prime accused Kalpana, whose name has been determined to be Dharma as per Nepali records, from Maharashtra, while investigators suspect the accused gang members split up after reaching Warangal to evade arrest.
Retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray’s wife Tanuja, 62, died of suffocation after being gagged during a robbery allegedly committed by Nepal-origin domestic workers at their residence in Jubilee Hills, one of Hyderabad’s most elite and highly surveilled localities. According to sources, the prime accused, initially identified as Kalpana through fake identification documents, was later found through Nepal identification records to be Dharma.
Her parents were reportedly picked up by a police team in Maharashtra and were being questioned. Four other persons were reportedly been detained, though investigators were yet to ascertain their role in the case. Police suspect some of them may have provided accommodation and transportation to the accused after the murder. Meanwhile, police have arrested two other accused, Sunil Perriyar and a receiver reportedly named Gopi.
Sources tracking the escape route claimed the gang boarded a train from Nampally station, got down at Kazipet and later travelled towards Warangal, where they separated to avoid detection. Another source said the accused may have travelled independently or in smaller groups towards the Nepal border and possibly crossed into Kathmandu.
Investigators suspect the accused may have used forest stretches along parts of the Nepal border to evade authorities. While police teams were stationed at certain checkpoints to intercept them, the suspects are believed to have moved through less-monitored routes. However, Dharma hailing from Surkhet district did not reach the house and is suspected that she might be with her alleged boyfriend Ganesh. Her mobile was phone off, sources said.
The Hyderabad police formed nearly 10 special teams comprising officials from law and order, crime, task force and cybercrime wings to track the accused and analyse technical evidence. Of them, six teams were reportedly sent to different locations connected to Nepal border routes. Among the officers, in-charge DCP Rupesh was stationed at Rupedia near the Nepal border before returning to Hyderabad. The investigation is presently being monitored by west zone DCP Ramana Reddy. Some teams came back while two are still making inquiries near border.
