Hyderabad: The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on the disqualification of BRS MLAs. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao filed a petition in the apex court, alleging a delay in the Speaker’s decision on the disqualification of the MLAs.
In his petition, KTR named Telangana Speaker and MLAs P. Srinivas Reddy, Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, Kale Yadaiah, T. Prakash Goud, Arikepudi Gandhi, Gudem Mahipal Reddy, and M. Sanjay Kumar as respondents. The case was heard by a bench led by Justice Gavai.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Assembly secretary, requested additional time to obtain information from the Speaker. "We need more time to discuss the matter with the Speaker and provide the necessary details," he stated.
The bench, however, questioned the prolonged delay. "It has already been 10 months. How much more time do you need?" the court asked. Following this, the hearing was deferred to February 18.
