New Delhi: Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury on Thursday said several railway projects are pending in Telangana despite clearances, completion of surveys, and submission of detailed project reports.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, she referred to several pending rail projects affecting connectivity.
She lamented that delays in approvals have stalled progress and limited the state's growth potential.
"We are a new state, this should have been a top priority... there is a huge cost overrun that gets involved," Chowdhury said.
The Congress MP also referred to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and said the railway manufacturing unit at Khazipet still remains pending for almost 12 years since the assurance was given in this House.
"What is the sanctity of giving such assurances and constitutional provisions if we do not respect them and we keep states suffering like this," she said.
Demaning expedite approvals for the pending projects, Chowdhury also said there should be time-bound implementation so that cost overruns can be contained.
In his Zero Hour mention, Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil expressed concern over obscenity being presented on many OTT platforms.
He said that when there were no OTT platforms, the Congress-led UPA government had introduced the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Amendment Bill, 2012.
But the Bill could not be passed, and after the BJP government came to power, it was withdrawn, he said, and urged the government to reintroduce the Bill.
Gohil also congratulated the Karnataka government for announcing a ban on social media for children.
