Justice Puthichira Sam Koshy— By Arrangement

HYDERABAD: Justice Puthichira Sam Koshy, a senior judge of the Telangana High Court, has been appointed its acting Chief Justice following Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh’s elevation to the Supreme Court.

The Union law ministry notified the appointment on Monday. Justice Koshy will perform the duties of Chief Justice after Justice Singh relinquishes office, pending the appointment of a new Chief Justice.

Justice Koshy had previously served as acting Chief Justice from July 17, 2025, until Justice Singh took oath as Chief Justice on July 19 that year. He was elevated as a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court in 2013 and transferred to the Telangana High Court in July 2023.

Justice Singh left for Delhi on Monday evening following the notification of his appointment to the Supreme Court. His swearing-in as a Supreme Court judge is proposed for October 6.

The High Court could not hold a farewell gathering before his departure owing to his urgent travel.
