Hyderabad: Popular UK-based Telugu YouTuber Rama Nandana, known for her channel "Nandu's World," was detained by Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police at Shamshabad after a lookout notice was issued against her in connection with a cheating case registered in Andhra Pradesh's NTR district.

Police took Nandana into custody at the airport and are set to hand her over to Ibrahimpatnam Police Station, where the case was originally filed. She and her husband, Jagarlamudi Madhukar, along with his father, face allegations of collecting large sums of money from people by promising them jobs in London.

The case stems from a complaint filed by Mamillapalli Sivakranthi Kumar, a UK resident, who alleged that he transferred Rs 15 lakh in multiple installments to bank accounts linked to Destiny Consultancy,  an entity reportedly connected to Madhukar and Nandana. The payments were reportedly made to secure a UK visa extension, employment assistance, and a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

According to the complaint, the promised visa services never materialized, and the CoS document provided to him later turned out to be fraudulent. Despite repeated demands, only Rs 2 lakh of the amount was refunded.

Acting on the complaint, Ibrahimpatnam police booked Jagarlamudi Madhukar as accused number one (A1), Rama Nandana as A2, and Mohan Rao as A3, under charges of cheating and fraud. Following this, authorities initiated steps to issue a Lookout Circular (LOC) against the accused, leading to Nandana's detention upon arrival at the airport.

Nandana had released a public video statement denying all allegations and stopped posting on her social media channels. She claimed that their names were misused in targeted smear campaigns arising from personal disputes.

She also made her silver screen debut with a special cameo appearance in Megastar Chiranjeevi's film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu along with Nayanatara, which was released in January.
