Hyderabad:  Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar became emotional and was seen wiping away tears in the House on Monday, after Panchayat Raj Minister D. Seethakka strongly condemned the objectionable remarks made against him by BRS MLC Thatha Madhu outside the Assembly premises before the start of the session.

The Minister said insulting the Speaker's mother was deeply painful, and she herself grew emotional while speaking in the Assembly. Seethakka demanded that Legislative Council Chairperson Gutha Sukhender Reddy suspend the membership of Madhusudan. She also demanded that BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao should suspend the MLC from the party.

Speaking to reporters after the House was adjourned, the Speaker said the comments made by the BRS MLC were hurtful. He recalled that Seethakka has been tying him a Rakhi for the past five years, and said that when she broke down in tears on the floor of the House, he too could not control his emotions. He added that the Assembly would pass a resolution against Tata Madhu's remarks and forward it to the Legislative Council.

BRS MLC Thatha Madhu had allegedly made abusive remarks against the Speaker during a BRS protest outside the Assembly. The protest escalated with BRS MLAs Sunita Laxmareddy, Sabitha Indra Reddy and a few women leaders getting into a scuffle with security personnel, during which Thatha Madhu allegedly directed abusive comments at the Speaker.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Ministers and Congress leaders demanded that Thatha Madhu be expelled from the Council, while some leaders stated that the remarks were an insult to the wider Dalit community.
