HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will on Monday lay the foundation stones for two major infrastructure projects in the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation area aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in western Hyderabad.
The projects — a new flyover between Miyapur Crossroads and Allwyn Crossroads, and a Road Overbridge (ROB) near Lingampally railway station — together cost ₹838 crore. Officials said they will improve travel conditions for thousands of commuters in fast‑growing residential, commercial and IT corridors.
The ROB near Lingampally, estimated at ₹308 crore, will include a four‑lane bridge across the railway line, stretches from Gulmohar Junction to Tara Nagar and back, and a two‑kilometre road widening between Gulmohar Junction and BHEL Junction. It is designed to ease bottlenecks in the Nallagandla‑Lingampally corridor and prevent flooding of the existing underpass during monsoon. With peak‑hour traffic volumes reaching 6,000 passenger car units per hour, the ROB is expected to reduce delays and improve safety.
The second project, a six‑lane bi‑directional flyover between Miyapur and Allwyn Cross Roads, is estimated at ₹530 crore. It will include two three‑lane uni‑directional underpasses — Hafeezpet to Miyapur and Bachupally to Allwyn Cross Roads. Covering 3.248 km, the grade separator system is aimed at tackling severe congestion along NH‑65, which serves Miyapur, Kukatpally, Hafeezpet, Kondapur, HITEC City and Gachibowli.
Traffic volumes at Miyapur and Allwyn junctions currently exceed 13,000 and 14,000 passenger car units per hour during peak periods. Officials said the project will cut travel time, fuel use and vehicle costs, while improving safety and supporting seamless connectivity with Metro and public transport.
