Mass Yoga Session Draws Huge Response At Swarnala Cheruvu
Hundreds participate in Yogandhra-2026 event at Swarnala Cheruvu as Nellore gears up for International Yoga Day celebrations.

Nellore: A large number of yoga enthusiasts participated in a mass yoga session held at Swarnala Cheruvu Tank Bund in Nellore on Sunday as part of the Yogandhra-2026 programme ahead of International Yoga Day.
Joint collector Mogili Venkateswarlu inaugurated the event near the Irugalamma Temple by lighting the ceremonial lamp and joined participants in performing yoga asanas along with officials from various departments.
Addressing the gathering, the joint collector described yoga as India's priceless gift to the world and said it is a powerful means of achieving physical well-being and mental peace. Yoga helps align the mind and body, enabling individuals to focus on a common goal and achieve greater success, he said. He urged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine and actively support the expansion of Yogandhra activities across the district.
He announced that thematic yoga programmes would be held at Ramateertham Beach on June 8 and June 16, with a special tourism yoga session at Swarnala Cheruvu on June 17. Another thematic yoga event involving residential associations and voluntary organisations is scheduled for June 12. A mega mass yoga programme will be organised at the AC Subba Reddy Stadium in Nellore on June 21 to mark International Yoga Day.
The session was conducted under the supervision of yoga instructors Mutyala Ravindra and Saleena. ITDA project officer and district nodal officer Srinivasa Rao, AYUSH nodal officer Dr Srinivasa Raju, Municipal Corporation DD Madhuri, DRDA PD Nagaraja Kumari, MEPMA PD Kiran Kumar, district medical and health officer Dr Sujatha and other officials participated.
