Revanth Reddy Attacks KTR in Sircilla, Alleges Multi-Crore Loot

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attacked BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in his home constituency, alleging that a decade of BRS misrule turned the textile hub of Sircilla into "Urisilla," a place marked by weaver suicides, distress migration and economic exploitation.
Addressing a large Praja Palana rally in the town, Reddy compared former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao to the Nizams. He alleged that KCR commercialised the Telangana movement and the faith of Sircilla's voters to build fortunes worth thousands of crores and luxury farmhouses spread over hundreds of acres.
Turning to local MLA KTR, Reddy said he was "imported from America" and, despite being elected six times by the constituency, failed to protect the weaving community.
"Why were you unable to stop weaver suicides? Why couldn't you stop workers from fleeing to the Gulf as laborers? Not a single anna reached struggling households while the ruling family amassed thousands of crores," he said.
Reddy accused KCR of misappropriating ₹1 lakh crore in the name of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. He alleged that KTR, J. Santosh Kumar and Ravinder Rao extracted thousands of crores through illegal sand mining along the Manair river basin. He also charged the previous government with failing to fulfil commitments made to the temples at Vemulawada and Bhadrachalam.
Contrasting the two governments' records, Reddy said the BRS government spent ₹2,234 crore on weavers in ten years, while the Congress government has released ₹1,731 crore in two and a half years, besides ₹1,700 crore in district development allocations.
He urged party cadres to "aim like cannons" and demolish BRS's feudal "gadis" (strongholds) in the coming assembly elections. He announced that a member of the weaver-dominant Padmashali community would be nominated to the Legislative Council and promised a cabinet berth to the local leader who established Congress dominance in the constituency.
Reddy said his partnership with TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud would secure a second consecutive term for the Congress in Telangana.
Goud and ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Adluri Laxman Kumar attended the rally.
