Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday invited Union ministers and prominent political leaders to participate in the Saraswati Pushkaralu, scheduled to commence on Thursday at the Triveni Sangam in Kaleshwaram.
The Chief Minister sent invitation cards to Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and leaders from other political parties. He directed IT minister D. Sridhar Babu to personally call and invite key leaders, including Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Revanth Reddy will inaugurate Saraswati Pushkara Ghat at Triveni Sangam on Thursday and is scheduled to take a holy dip and perform rituals at the confluence of the Godavari, Pranahita and the invisible Saraswati river.
The Saraswati Maha Pushkaram, which occurs once every 12 years, is marked by the transit of Jupiter (Guru) into Gemini (Mithuna Rashi), a celestial event that took place at 10.35 pm on May 14. The sacred Pushkara Snanam will begin early the next morning on Thursday, with the Sankalpa ritual led by Toguta Ashram Peethadhipathi Madhavananda Saraswati Swami at 5.44 am on Thursday.
The endowments department has made extensive preparations for the 12-day spiritual event. Temporary tent cities have been erected to accommodate the thousands of devotees expected to arrive for the holy dip. Daily rituals include the Saraswati Navaratna Mahaharati from 6.45 am to 7.35 am, followed by special pujas between 8.30 am and 11 am. Evening programmes will feature cultural and art performances, adding a festive dimension to the spiritual proceedings.
