HYDERABAD: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday said Congress would face a decisive defeat in the next elections and the people would drive Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy from power and the Congress out of Mahbubnagar district.

Rama Rao, addressing a meeting of his party leaders and workers from erstwhile unified Mahbubnagar district, accused the Chief Minister of betraying the region’s interests by putting on the back burner the nearly-complete Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. “This government is neglecting a project capable of irrigating lakhs of acres. People have recognised this betrayal and will respond appropriately in the next elections,” he said.

Mere announcements and publicity campaigns cannot bring development, Rama Rao said adding that the Chief Minister was only focused on politics instead of completing crucial projects and fulfilling development commitments. Rama Rao also admitted that the BRS failed to effectively communicate its developmental achievements during the previous elections. “But after experiencing Congress rule, people are recognising the value of the development delivered by the previous BRS government,” he said.
