Telangana ACB Raids Narahari’s Properties in DA Case
The sleuths are conducting raids at Narahari’s house and other places including Chatrinaka in Old City as the ACB was flooded with complaints related to his activities
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Sunkari Narahari Rao, deputy director, Multi Zone-II, survey and land records department, alleging that he had amassed assets allegedly through corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.
The ACB put at ₹13 crore, the document value of the assets, including property, cash, gold and bank balances that it had detected with Narahari Rao. It said the market value could be higher. Narahari Rao was being produced before the special ACB court in Nampally for judicial remand.
According to the officials, following the registration of the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at Narahari Rao’s residence and nine other locations connected to his relatives, associates, and suspected benamis.
The ACB said it uncovered a large volume of movable and immovable assets, including property documents, cash, gold, bank deposits, and fixed deposits. The officials also tated that the documents related to five open plots in Rangareddy district and agricultural land measuring 1.24 acres in Maheshwaram were identified.
Investigators also detected multiple residential properties, including a 2,500 square feet flat in Puppalguda, two flats measuring 1,860 square feet each in Narsingi, and another flat in Rajendranagar. In addition, papers regarding ownership of a G+3 building in Gachibowli’s TNGOs Colony and a G+2 residential building in Chatrinaka were found during the raids.
Officials said cash amounting to ₹1.54 crore was recovered from Narahari Rao’s residence. Bank balance worth ₹2.29 crore and fixed deposits valued at ₹5.04 crore were also identified. The searches led to the seizure of around 1.3 kilograms of gold ornaments and 8 kilograms of silver items. Two lockers in the name of the officer’s wife were traced and are expected to be opened as part of the investigation.
The total value of assets detected during the searches, including a car, was ₹13,05,67,100 based on document value, the ACB said. The market value may differ significantly. ACB officials said further verification of assets and benami links was underway.
