Ramappa’s Sculptural Splendour Is Extraordinary: Tanikella Bharani
Actor and writer Tanikella Bharani visited Ramappa Temple in Mulugu, admiring its Kakatiya-era sculptures and architecture.
Popular actor and writer Tanikella Bharani visited the historic Ramappa temple at Palampet in Mulugu district on Tuesday and admired its Kakatiya-era sculptures and architecture.
Bharani performed special prayers at the temple and later took interest in its intricate sculptures and architectural features. Temple priests Harish Sharma and Umashankar welcomed him, performed the rituals and offered him teertha prasadam and the temple’s sacred vastram.
Tourist guide Gorantla Vijay Kumar explained the history of the temple, the grandeur of the Kakatiya dynasty and the significance of its sculptures to Bharani.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharani said it was his second visit to the Ramappa temple. He described its sculptural excellence as “extraordinary” and said one could never get tired of admiring it, even after several visits.
He also recalled his popular song ‘Aatagadara Siva… Aatagadara’, which he had written inspired by the artistic and cultural legacy associated with Ramappa.
Later, Bharani visited Ramappa Lake and went boating. Temple executive officer Immadi Bhaskar, tourist police personnel and staff of the Archaeology, Endowments and Tourism departments accompanied him.
