Rains Bring Relief To Farmers In Erstwhile Adilabad District
Farmers had been worried over the possible drying of cotton crops in red soil following a prolonged dry spell of 15 days.
ADILABAD: Rains in several parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district over the past 24 hours brought relief to farmers, who had been waiting for a spell of rain to save standing cotton and soya crops in red soils.
The highest rainfall of 34.8 mm was recorded in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district. Lingapur in Dandepalli mandal of Mancherial district recorded 25 mm, followed by 22.3 mm in Ramnagar of Mavala mandal in Adilabad district and 21.5 mm in Khanapur of Nirmal district.
Farmers had been worried over the possible drying of cotton crops in red soil following a prolonged dry spell of 15 days. The cotton crop was reported to be good in black soil.
Farmers with irrigation facilities, including drip and sprinkler systems, have been providing water to standing crops. Those without irrigation facilities are depending on spells of rain to save their crops.
