Harish Rejects Allegations On Family Land

HYDERABAD: Former minister and BRS Legislature Party deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao on Saturday rejected allegations of wrongdoing in a land deal involving his father-in-law.
Referring to comments by revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in the Assembly during a discussion on Section 22-A prohibited lands, Harish Rao said his father-in-law was a retired bank official and that the land in question was allotted by the Congress government in 1995. "The same Congress government issued an NOC in 2010, and the property was subsequently registered after payment through a cheque," he said. "The land was allotted by a Congress government, the NOC was given by a Congress government and the registration also took place under a Congress government. The facts are on record," Harish Rao said.

"The Congress government is trying to divert attention from the 22-A issue by making personal allegations against BRS leaders," he said. Calling Section 22-A one of the biggest problems facing people in Telangana, Harish Rao said BRS members were deliberately suspended from the Assembly so that the government could avoid answering questions on the issue. Referring to the government's claim that thousands of houses had been mistakenly included in the prohibited list, Harish Rao said it could not escape responsibility by blaming officials.
He demanded that the government immediately clarify how many acres and properties had been added to the 22-A list and how many had been removed. He also reiterated his demand for the resignation of Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy from the state Cabinet.
