Rain Brings Relief to Farmers in Erstwhile Adilabad District
Farmers had been awaiting rainfall for nearly 15 days, hoping for germination of recently sown seeds
ADILABAD: Rainfall was recorded in parts of the erstwhile Adilabad district on Monday, providing some relief to farmers after a prolonged dry spell.
Showers were reported from Tandur, Beemini, Kasipet, Kotapalli, Dandepalli and Mandamarri in Mancherial district; Mudhole, Basar, Kubheer, Lokeshwar and Khanapur in Nirmal district; Dageaon, Rebbena and Kagaznagar in Komaram Bheem district; and Adilabad Urban, Jainad, Bela, Tamsi and Indravelli in Adilabad district.
Farmers had been awaiting rainfall for nearly 15 days, hoping for germination of recently sown seeds. While the showers brought some relief, those who had sown cotton early in June following the ‘Mirugu’ practice reported poor germination and said they were preparing for re-sowing.
Farmers said that two to three spells of rain would provide adequate soil moisture for seed germination.
