Raidurgam–T-Hub Proposed Skywalk To Cut Traffic by 30%
Cyberabad police inspect alignment for safer walkways in the IT corridor
Hyderabad: Construction of a skywalk was proposed along the busy Raidurgam–T-Hub stretch in Cyberabad to improve pedestrian safety, walkability and traffic flow in the IT corridor.
Cyberabad police commissioner Dr M. Ramesh led a team of senior officials to inspect the proposed alignment on Monday. The project is planned from Raidurgam Metro Station, via the IKEA flyover and IOCL junction, up to T-Hub.
Officials examined areas with heavy pedestrian movement and frequent traffic congestion. The aim is to create a safe and continuous walking path for commuters accessing Metro stations, offices and commercial areas.
Police officials said the corridor witnesses daily pedestrian risks due to high traffic volume and the proposed skywalk would allow safe road crossing while easing vehicle movement. The project is expected to reduce traffic congestion by nearly 30 per cent.
The proposal is being developed with support from the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) along with private stakeholders. Phase I includes a 500-metre-long skywalk, while plans are also underway for a 400 metre underpass connecting T-Hub with Mindspace C-Gate to improve last-mile connectivity.
The proposal will be submitted to the state government through Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA) and the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). Officials said coordination meetings would be held with civic bodies and industry representatives and the project was planned under a public private partnership model.
