2nd Spl Sanitation Drive To Begin Today
Special drive from Feb 3–28 to clean 300 wards daily and eliminate GVPs
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will undertake a special sanitation drive across the city from February 3 to 28, covering 300 wards every day, with the objective of ensuring comprehensive cleanliness and elimination of garbage vulnerable points (GVPs). This is the second drive and the first one ending recently. Some works related to sanitation are pending.
According to officials, the drive will focus on the removal of legacy waste, municipal solid waste, construction and demolition (C&D) of debris, green waste, and residual waste generated from engineering and urban biodiversity works.
Sanitation activities will begin daily at 6.30 am and will be carried out in a phased manner. The tasks include cleaning of foot overbridges, flyovers, roadsides, central medians, lakes, nalas, footpaths, parks and slum areas, besides removal of waste accumulated near electric transformers and poles.
As part of the programme, GHMC will also clear long-pending legacy waste, conduct dedicated debris removal operations with vehicles and convert selected GVPs into public-friendly spaces through wall paintings, plantations and aesthetic improvements.
