Quality Education, Health Care Must Be Ensured For Poor: TGHRC Chairman
Later, he also received complaints from the people at the R&B guest house.
Nalgonda:Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) chairman Justice Shameem Akther on Wednesday said quality education and health care services should be made accessible to the poor by the state government to improve their living condition.
Speaking after inspecting Government General Hospital (GGH) at Nalgonda, he appreciated the doctors for performing 800 deliveries each month, 60 per cent of which are normal deliveries, while 40 per cent are Caesarean sections. He emphasised the need to encourage 100 per cent normal deliveries with collective efforts to create awareness in the public. He advised doctors to avoid Caesarean sections whenever possible as this ensures better health and fewer complications for women. C-sections should be performed only in cases of absolute medical necessity.
The government hospitals have been providing high-quality medical care, staffed by well-educated and competent doctors and equipped with all necessary medical equipment and infrastructure. He further stated that providing education and healthcare to the public is the greatest service one can render to society, he added.
Later, he also received complaints from the people at the R&B guest house.
He reminded that out of 17,000 cases pending before the State Human Rights Commission, 15,000 have been resolved. The commission is receiving 40 to 50 new cases daily, the majority of them related to education, healthcare, land, and the rights of senior citizens, as well as matters involving the police and revenue departments. Upon receiving a complaint, the commission summons the relevant officials and takes necessary action to ensure justice for the complainants.
He informed that just five complaints were received by the HRC so far this year, and the district administration responded promptly by submitting the necessary records in each case.
