Prof. Shivaraj Appointed VC of Rajiv Gandhi Varsity

Hyderabad: Prof. Shivaraj, academic, chemist and administrator, has been appointed Vice‑Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, a Central University in Arunachal Pradesh. He hails from Udamalgidda in Narayanpet district, formerly part of Mahbubnagar.
Born in a poor family, Prof. Shivaraj completed his schooling in Damaragidda, obtained his MSc in Chemistry in 1983 and earned his PhD in 1989. He began his academic career in 1986 as assistant professor in the department of chemistry at Osmania University. He has more than 34 years of teaching experience and over 41 years of research experience. The state government honoured him with the Best Teacher Award.
Under his supervision, 31 scholars have been awarded PhD degrees. He has published 133 research papers in national and international journals and delivered more than 70 lectures at scientific conferences in India and abroad.
A statement said Prof. Shivaraj served in several key administrative positions, including registrar of Palamuru University. At the national level, he has been a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the standing committee on Autonomous Colleges and Deemed Universities.
Chairman of the Expert Committee on Equity and Inclusiveness for implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Prof. Shivaraj is also a member of the executive council of the Central University of Jharkhand, the finance committee of the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, and the executive council of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education.
